Poetry Rivals is an exciting competition which helps bring poetry to life! You may stand a chance of being picked as one of the top 50 poets in the under 18s category with a chance to perform it live to a panel of judges. Two lucky entrants will win laptops!

AQA Creative Writing Competition
Win a creative writing workshop with Diane Samuels and resources for your school with our creative writing competition. Get your students' creative juices flowing and engage them with modern literature.
What is identity?
The theme of the competition is identity, inspired by Diane Samuel's Kindertransport, one of our GCSE set texts. The play introduces themes of identity and heritage with the story of Evelyn, a British woman in her fifties, and Eva, the nine year old German child she used to be.*

- Who or what has influenced them?
- What events have affected them?
- Where do they live and how has it defined who they are?
The prizes
The winner will receive a creative writing workshop with Diane Samuels for up to 15 students, plus £500 worth of books and resources for their school library.
Two runners-up will win a class set of a GCSE or A-level set text of their choice.

All shortlisted entries will be published on our website alongside the winning entry, from September.
Entries
The competition is open to students aged 15 -18** and entries should be no more than 1000 words. Entries can be submitted as:
- a poem
- a short story
- a scene from a script.
The closing date for entries is 31 July, with the winner being announced on 9 September.
